- but desert combat, q3, cs, call of duty, enemy territory and a myriad of rts games seem to be popular
requirements:

  • your box and everything needed to game
  • transport - the venue is a bit outside the city
  • 10/100mbit network card
  • a 10m+ length of cat5 network cable if you prefer, i will supply you with a cable if needed
  • 4-way gang adapter/power strip and whatever extension cables you can lay your hands on.
  • headphones (no speakers!).
  • money for food, drink, accomodation etc.
  • your >>signed waiver<< - no admission without one
  • melee weapon of choice (eg: batleth, frying pan, hypnotoad, sleeping tmoney etc.)
  • drivers/games/apps discs, os + cdkeys just in case you need to reformat on the day.
  • anti-virus software fully updated. i recommend avg free edition from grisoft.comno lan access without some. i will make avg free edition installer and updates available on the ftp server.
  • bring sleeping-bags/floormats if you haven't got the stamina

You know its ironic I was the one who suggested rts games and then everyone then decides to play the least real time strategy game there is because they're afraid to lose a mans rts Shogun/Rome tw. No no they would rather play house with dow before they decide to attack. Long live real battlefield tacticsin real rts's.

DoW is the easiest game and there are way too many imbalanced stratagies....the total war series are a little more challanging but you do not build up your army so it is not as strategic in that sense. Warcraft is the most strategic as it requires you to build the right units and continually adapt to the units of the opposing player.it has what each of the other two games lacks.."micro" yes you actually control every unit individually and that is what makes it a cut above the competition because yes you can still lose wioth a vastly superior army because of 'strategy'and tactics that the opposition uses. you have to be much faster around the keyboard using hotkeys(pressing around 2 or more keys a second for the whole game).The battles can also be turned by the death of just a single unit(hero)which means you must always be conscious of all your men.this man be true in all rts' but for games like total war you do not have to build units and manage a base while fighting the enemy as well.Can you guess my favourite game?

Nope it's not that complicated at all...pie went down due to problems with a kernel upgrade and muppet was taken down as a precaution. In other words, BOARDS IS DOWN OH NO WHERE ELSE WILL I GO POST ALL DAY etc etc.

If you can't come, tell me at least a week before the lan to give someone on the waiting list a chance to see that they've got a space. Otherwise you'll still have to pay the entry fee to cover the cost of the seat. Goku - you mad bastard Boards is *kinda* back up. There was a glitch.
