Right,

Were limiting to 50 for a number of reasons, primilarly power. Unless buildings give us permission for a higher number I think well keep the limit. If more than 50 signup, well worry about getting more places arranged.

PolarIce,
Its a 36 Hour LAN starting at 10am Saturday. Ill update above.

SergentHorse,
Not a COD player myself so its up to the players. COD:UO was played at Midlans but some people were annoyed that it was the wrong version (clans play a different one etc.) For the moment well say its COD:UO unless people feel really strongly about a different version.

Lordkahn,
Again well look into tabling etc. only if power is no longer an issue.

I can bring some very long high capacity cables if ye want, and ye can then pull power from another room or circuit further away.
How many amps ye got?
Pm if you dont want to post here, or pm mindphuck and ask for access to the lan organisers forum.

They can borrow from gsoc besides each person told to bring 1 quad strip

Surge Protecters are the best

banned from MindPhucks future LANs
banned from Azzas future LANs

Hmmm I wonder will the require the money up front for some people?

Ok, CoD:UO it is then. But if you want to solve the problem of patching and versions. Just insist that everybody has the most up to date patch for all the games.

Since when was the age limit set to 18+

keeping it 18 means than it is legal to get drunk.
and besides we are all over 18 anyway

Hey lads,

Right firstly Fuzzy thanks for the offer of the high capacity cabling. At the moment we really have to wait for UL to get back to us before we up the capacity. If we end up in a situation where we have more than 50 signups well worry about it then. Its our first LAN of this size and we plan to scale up if this is a success sometime next year.

With regard the age limit, some people advised that there may be legal issues with minors attending. Were looking into it and if there are no insurance issues then, by all means, well lower the limit. Until then the limit stays.

fuzzylogic: We dont know exactly yet about how much power there is, but theres at least 13 double sockets in the room. Theres also double sockets in the adjacent EG002-009 rooms, so some decent cables might be handy to tap off them ^_^
Theres 3-phase sockets in the restaurant, but thats 2 floors above EG010 - probably too far away.

Regarding the 18 age limit, its to do with some sort of policy for clubs/societies in UL (this excludes any 16/17 year-old UL students though, for obvious reasons). But as molc said someones looking into it.

keeping it 18 means than it is legal to get drunk.

You are not serious!? For starters theres that whole Alcohol Policy that the Students Union are abiding to, and for second starters youll be kicked out the college if youre caught drinking on the premises, you tool!

The age limit has to be 18 though, for insurance purposes. Unless your a college student (who even if under 18 would be covered by the college), you have to be over 18 to be able to legally attend such an event........unless I think you want to bring parential supervision.

Cant if hes in UL, then he becomes a member of the SU and will join the Society if he goes to the LAN, therefore hes covered by Society and SU Insurance and nothing wrong can happen...............or something. Ive never understood all they say at Clubs and Societies Council
