i'm really hoping battlefield 2 is released and delivered on time, this lan could serve a goos playtester for it

requirements:

your box and everything needed to game
transport - the venue is a bit outside the city
10/100mbit network card
a 10m+ length of cat5 network cable if you prefer, i will supply you with a cable if needed
4-way gang adapter/power strip and whatever extension cables you can lay your hands on.
headphones (no speakers!).
money for food, drink, accomodation etc.
your >>signed waiver<< - no admission without one
melee weapon of choice (eg: batleth, frying pan, hypnotoad, sleeping tmoney etc.)
drivers/games/apps discs, os + cdkeys just in case you need to reformat on the day.
anti-virus software fully updated. i recommend avg free edition from grisoft.comno lan access without some. i will make avg free edition installer and updates available on the ftp server.
bring sleeping-bags/floormats if you haven't got the stamina

Just got an email from Corsair, they're going to sponsor us. Awaiting replies from Alienware, Coolermaster, ATI and Gamestop. Trying to get a contact email for EA..try and rustle up some sort of BF2 deal/prizes. Personally, I think a replica Hind-D would do nicely.

Perhaps having prizes for some of the less popular games is an idea, such as AVP or quakeworld. I guess the Corsair sponsored prize will be going on the q3 tourni? I'll have to start practicing if I want to have a chance of beating SiN

I don't think awarding the people who have the most cash to throw around on hardware with more stuff makes any sense at all. So, to put it simply, will there be a qw tourni? Should be enough players coming to run one.

waht u are saying goes for u as well, u are good at qw so u want to play it , my pc has a lot of added parts to it they cost cash but that is not modding ,moding is changing tweeking painting and makeing different not adding factory parts, as for overclocking i won the last time and i have no where near the best or most expensive hardware its just tuned to run proprely , iv put more time into getting my pc to run the way i want, makeing it different 1 of a kind , its the same as u putting the time into qw. think about what u say before you say it ,u can have ure little qw tourny it has nothing to do with me , if u dont mod ure pc please keep youre nose out of it like a good lad

What you seem to be messing up, is the distinguishment between money, and skill. You see, though you have spent alot of time modding your pc, this would not be possible for someone like me simply because I don't have the finance. However qw will run on any old pc that you could pick up for free, and as such the winner of a LAN match is whoever is the most skilled. As for the tourni, indeed it is a fair statement that I want a tourni because I'm good at the game, but say it was a 2on2 tourni; I'd get put with the worst player and as such it'd be fairly even. Also, SiN and I are on about the same skill leve in qw. In finishing, tweaking/modding may require skill, but it needs money, too, and if you have enough money you can do it without any skill at all. Whereas money wont get you anything in qw (bar get you a good internet connection to practice with), and as such I fail to see the comparison.

You Said "I don't think awarding the people who have the most cash to throw around on hardware with more stuff makes any sense at all." im not going to start argueing with u, i did before and no good came from it, modding does not = money , u do not need good or expensive hardware to overclock , i dont care about ure qw tourny or if it can run on a wrist watch, my pc is no where as expensive as most of the cases in galway lan or most lans, at the midlans yeaterday my pc would not evin boot and i still came in first place in the modding comp its not about hardware its about looks its about the effort put in to the pc to make it Individual. and that does take skill, if you are saying that modding takes no skill you will have probloms with a lot of people

If there was one, it wouldn't be soley (or perhaps even partly at all) "Who's got the blingin-est PC". 'The Judging Panel' would be looking at cases from a variety of interesting and horizontal perspectives...as we'd be blathered by that stage.

a) I think most people with common sense wouldn't argue with me that most modding is about how much cash you have (unless you handpaint your case, or do other mods solely by hand), so I don't see the point in arguing this issue any further. b) #14 is my point exactly.... c) Falcon, I wont be taking part. It's the principal of the matter - awarding the people who have enough money to do something with prizes. You both seem to think this is about me wanting a qw tourni etc, it's not. The cs tourni (which as we all know, I disapprove off) winners should get prizes, because they used SKILL, not money. Heck, even the dude that can down a pint the fastest deserves a prize, as he used skill rather than money (provided the pint is paid for by someone else etc). And Syxpak: I figured that - most of the more sane people think these bling bling cases look ridiculous. But I think there would be outrage if ye picked someone who actually deserved it (someone who actually used some creativity and artistic talent on their case), like Toxick's old case only done properly

Some 1 snems to tink if you have cash you will win modding comps, so i guess if u have cash u can turn on pc better than anyone as well
