- but desert combat, q3, cs, call of duty, enemy territory and a myriad of rts games seem to be popular
i'm really hoping battlefield 2 is released and delivered on time, this lan could serve a goos playtester for it

requirements:

  • your box and everything needed to game
  • transport - the venue is a bit outside the city
  • 10/100mbit network card
  • a 10m+ length of cat5 network cable if you prefer, i will supply you with a cable if needed
  • 4-way gang adapter/power strip and whatever extension cables you can lay your hands on.
  • headphones (no speakers!).
  • money for food, drink, accomodation etc.
  • your >>signed waiver<< - no admission without one
  • melee weapon of choice (eg: batleth, frying pan, hypnotoad, sleeping tmoney etc.)
  • drivers/games/apps discs, os + cdkeys just in case you need to reformat on the day.
  • anti-virus software fully updated. i recommend avg free edition from grisoft.comno lan access without some. i will make avg free edition installer and updates available on the ftp server.
  • bring sleeping-bags/floormats if you haven't got the stamina

If you're choosing which game to buy with GalwayLAN in mind get bf2, as that'll be played tons at the next LAN (whether we like it or not). ph33r teh b34rd

Its just a thought....in the CS tourni we'll have hopefully Pschyo Stats running(to rate how every1 does) Sniipe is working on it. We shud get a GLan clan set up and see how we do. Maybe the best performing players cud be called up or whatever( kind of have the CS tourni as a recruitment thingy) Hopefully the clan cud enter tournaments in ireland etc....maybe there could be a LAN league where all the different lan venues select their clan from the gamers that win their cs tournis Neways its just a thought but it should be looked into with more detail, This could make the LAN venues more popular and add an extra 'challenge' for the gamers

Well, seeing as the 3 best cs players who go to GalwayLANs are all in the same clan, and picking the other 2 players necessary would probably involve shouting "SiN, Sniipe!", I don't think it'd work too well in terms of competing to be on the team etc. Good idea overrall though, I just hate cs.

OFFICIAL: The CS tourney will be randomised. The top 5 ppl will be on different teams. Who they are I don't know yet, as I don't know who will be definately there on the day. People can seed who they think and I'll take it into consideration. I've not played CS for ages and I suck, but not as much as 70% of the people at the lan. My seed : 1)Anima, 2)Drake, 3)Caliden, 4)Sin, 5)Rufty The website is ready, I'm tweaking it at the moment to schedule 3 or 4 main tournaments. They are: CS 1.6, UT2K4, DOW, and something else. These are open to discussion tho. no more than 4 tourneys can be properly organised, but I can be forced by other admins to put on more. I'd also like 1 game of any game that everyone must play... I don't care if u hate it or not, play so that we all can have fun. The site will have an upload area of pics and patches where ppl can download them late. We will also have anti-virus to download, prob avg, and some anti-spyware, prob ms beta. Of course there can be mini tournaments set up by others, actually q3, I forgot that. I'm sure Syxpak has ideas for where prizes, are to be distributed.

Randomised teams is the best way to do it Seed players and take it from there. The idea bout every1 playing one game at the same time wud be gud crack.....imagine 40 pple with automatic rifles let loose against each other (Battle Royale style) lol Is anyone into Pro Evo 4 on pc? Let me know cause we cud get a few games of that played.

pro evo 4 is on the PC? I bought myself a USB to PS2 controller, I'd be up for it. I suck tho.

I fotgot that Drake is in the US. I'd put myself 5th then on my seeding (altho, there prob is better that I don't know of)

After a re-read of posts; is COD a game that should be organised as a tourney?

I have 2 usb joypads (both are ps2 analog replicas) so they play and feel like they are the ps2 remotes -Azza- I am also in touch with my Italian side lol...... The Italians rule at virtual football!

Might be an idea to post if you're coming on the Saturday rather than the Friday also? If Sniipe sees that there are spaces free Friday night he'll probably try and fill them up then there'll be too many people on the Saturday

I'll take it that people aren't coming to the lan if they are not there by 3pm on Saturday. Unless I here a few people here saying they won't be in till after that, in which case of course we'll keep a place for them. So DocToc, to answer u; I'll ring u at 3pm if there is a place availible and u are first on the list that I have a mobile number for. And the chances of 45 people coming... only God knows that!
