- but desert combat, q3, cs, call of duty, enemy territory and a myriad of rts games seem to be popular
i'm really hoping battlefield 2 is released and delivered on time, this lan could serve a goos playtester for it

requirements:

  • your box and everything needed to game
  • transport - the venue is a bit outside the city
  • 10/100mbit network card
  • a 10m+ length of cat5 network cable if you prefer, i will supply you with a cable if needed
  • 4-way gang adapter/power strip and whatever extension cables you can lay your hands on.
  • headphones (no speakers!).
  • money for food, drink, accomodation etc.
  • your >>signed waiver<< - no admission without one
  • melee weapon of choice (eg: batleth, frying pan, hypnotoad, sleeping tmoney etc.)
  • drivers/games/apps discs, os + cdkeys just in case you need to reformat on the day.
  • anti-virus software fully updated. i recommend avg free edition from grisoft.comno lan access without some. i will make avg free edition installer and updates available on the ftp server.
  • bring sleeping-bags/floormats if you haven't got the stamina

You're all noobs. Plenty of people were born before you. DocToc - If you sign up and secure a place at the lan, you'll be charged the full price whether you stay five minutes or the weekend. I assume yourself and your friend are new to lans? Might I suggest getting a crossover cable, bringing your machine to the other's house and having a small test lan to familiarise yourself with the process? There are plenty of people who'd turn up when the lan starts and only leave when I'm unplugging the equipment on Sunday night. I'm not really bothered either way, but I'd like to think that the people who come to the lans would not be so selfish as to take a spot in a packed-out lan and only show up for a few hours :) As for the 3rd room, it's not like I don't *want* to book it, it's a matter of whether or not it's actually available. If it's not already booked, I'll get it as there seems to be plenty of demand - better to have one or two free spaces than having to let down people who signed up in good faith.

Been playing the demo of BF2....its so good There are some nice new additions....being able to call in airstrikes, making squads(i wana be squad leader!!) the physics and character models are sweeet 2 cant wait to get the game when it comes out

No, as caliden said, that wouldn't be fair to those who signed up earlier, hence the 'waiting' list What normally happens with people on the waiting list is that they either wait to see if more people drop out of the attendence list , or they turn up on the Friday/saturday/ and see if there's space. Sometimes some attendees might come late or leave early, leaving a spare seat. If you want to email us your number, we'll do our best to give you a call if a space comes up. The order in which calls will be made like that would be based on the order of people in the waiting list who mails us their number. Just as a matter of interest, how many of you have signed up to room101.org with a valid email address that you check regularly (4-5 times weekly)? Did you get an email regarding the lan?

We can't get the 3rd room. I'll be finalising the capacity. Don't expect it to rise more than 45max. Chances are it'll be a hot summer weekend, the sweat of gamers is particularly pungent, especially when densely packed together. Sorry folks, there will be other lans. I may very well run another lan in August if people are interested.
