- but desert combat, q3, cs, call of duty, enemy territory and a myriad of rts games seem to be popular
i'm really hoping battlefield 2 is released and delivered on time, this lan could serve a goos playtester for it

requirements:

  • your box and everything needed to game
  • transport - the venue is a bit outside the city
  • 10/100mbit network card
  • a 10m+ length of cat5 network cable if you prefer, i will supply you with a cable if needed
  • 4-way gang adapter/power strip and whatever extension cables you can lay your hands on.
  • headphones (no speakers!).
  • money for food, drink, accomodation etc.
  • your >>signed waiver<< - no admission without one
  • melee weapon of choice (eg: batleth, frying pan, hypnotoad, sleeping tmoney etc.)
  • drivers/games/apps discs, os + cdkeys just in case you need to reformat on the day.
  • anti-virus software fully updated. i recommend avg free edition from grisoft.comno lan access without some. i will make avg free edition installer and updates available on the ftp server.
  • bring sleeping-bags/floormats if you haven't got the stamina

CoD and DoW are on my hitlist along with BF2. The attendance list is extremely packed. PLEASE BRING ONLY WHAT YOU *NEED*. I don't want to see people bringing extra servers, unless they're tiny and draw sod-all power. We have two main servers (both are dual proc boxes), one windows and one Linux. I'm refitting one of the other boxes so it can deal out the critical game patches and host a few of the older-generation games (P3 Xeon 866, target config is 4x9Gig SCSI Raid0, 1x 36gig SCSI OS). By the way, please disable Windows Filesharing before coming to the lan, have an FTP client installed. An FTP server running on your machine might also be an idea. Your virus definitions must be up-to-date. Due to the manner in which AVG now updates itself, I don't think I can provide updates at the lan. You will be expected to run a complete system scan as soon as you setup and power on your machine. Please don't arrive at the lan without this stuff setup. If your box falls on it's arse, it's up to you to fix it. If you're badly stuck, the organisers and/or other attendees will probably help you out, but there won't be any hand-holding. Also, if you have a TFT monitor, bring it. They draw less power than CRTs. This goes doubly for people with high power-draw systems. Toxick, chances are you machine will suffer a stroke and prolapsed rectum when it sees BF2

im hoping that you will set about getting the third room to accomadate up to 60 as you were saying. please do, you know it wil be worth it to have the odd awl mayo man playin in the competition. LotR BfME is a great game, if you could get it. it would be a very good match game. loads of fun

my friend has bf2 running on a geforcefx 5200 128mb and a stempron 2600+ with 1gd ddr 333 it plays smooth enough but the graphics r on low. also will ye have bf2 and i need dawn of war is it still in smiths will we need to stay for the 48 hour

Thats what i have. its pure pooh but it works all my games. Also i want to know if there will be an expansion on the spaces available at this event because with 16 people on the waiting list i think its worth it to get an extra room and it will add to the atmosphere of the whole thing. If you dont mind to much organisers please do your best to get those extra spaces ........PLEASE

There are many people looking for this 3rd room. about 16 of them. we will love you forever if you can get it. if you have space for 60 people i have more friends who really want to go to this but they havent signed up yet because they are fat and lazy..not literally but still. we need a 3rd room. And you need skills to play quake.....yawn...a noob cud play that once and hammer the crap out of a season vet!!!Or what about CS you thnk u dnt need skillz in that???I hope you choose your words wisely my friend as you cud anger alot of playrs answering that!
