- but desert combat, q3, cs, call of duty, enemy territory and a myriad of rts games seem to be popular
i'm really hoping battlefield 2 is released and delivered on time, this lan could serve a goos playtester for it

requirements:

  • your box and everything needed to game
  • transport - the venue is a bit outside the city
  • 10/100mbit network card
  • a 10m+ length of cat5 network cable if you prefer, i will supply you with a cable if needed
  • 4-way gang adapter/power strip and whatever extension cables you can lay your hands on.
  • headphones (no speakers!).
  • money for food, drink, accomodation etc.
  • your >>signed waiver<< - no admission without one
  • melee weapon of choice (eg: batleth, frying pan, hypnotoad, sleeping tmoney etc.)
  • drivers/games/apps discs, os + cdkeys just in case you need to reformat on the day.
  • anti-virus software fully updated. i recommend avg free edition from grisoft.comno lan access without some. i will make avg free edition installer and updates available on the ftp server.
  • bring sleeping-bags/floormats if you haven't got the stamina

Are you in Galway city or nearby? You can come along and have a look tomorrow evening, but I can't guarantee you a seat, and you will probably be asked to move and/or disconnect. I'm only saying you can bring your laptop because it's small and light and easily portable. This is not an excuse for others on the waiting list to come along on the day, plonk their full tower and 19" crt on the desk and expect to be still sitting there sunday evening.

I'll have photos up online when I get my machine back home. Apologies for the rather hap-hazard-ness of the comps, one of the organisers (Sniipe) had to cancel at the last minute for personal reasons and I was being a lazy bastard. My apologies. Overall it was a nice relaxed lan, alot of new faces (I recognised about half of those who were there). Next LAN should be End of October, with perhaps a mini-LAN in late August/early September.

Review will be up shortly, nice relaxed lan indeed, a little too-relaxed at times but it wasn't too bad. So many new faces, didn't have a clue who alot of people were (I had Faero mixed up with some other guy for about a day).

Good lan,lots of downloaded stuff was done.would have been more comp if sniipe had have been there but wat could you do things came up.......... Would one of the admins delete the accounts C_lan Termanator and termanator1 plz as i remember my old termanator password must say again it was a nice relaxing lan

Actually just lost... Coz we (me and me mates from dub) were all sleep deprived for the first time to such an extent, we sorta forgot some equipment, Luckily I live here in galway so I'm sorted but my mates in dub only realised when they got back, and coz they are so lazy I'm gonna have to go on here and plead the following. If anyone finds a Dawn of War disc 1 in there drive, please reserve it for Raziel_Doomgate, as it was misplaced among the masses of people using it, also, He forgot his power lead and four way gang adapter thingy I dunno what ye call em, (haha!) but sadly he isn't completly screwed ='( (I would have liked to slag him), he just stole one from his bro's comp, anywho, I think thats it, I think one of 'em is missin there warcraft III cd too... have to check it up again... As regards the lan, ye, you mofo's where dlin some bigass files man! I couldn't even play guild wars! Yeeup, t'was fun, wasn't as intensive as I would have thought, but fun nonetheless... Projector was cool for the few seconds we all used it ^^

I heard the lan was very good and everyone enjoyed themselves. Nothing new there as all Galwaylans are enjoyable... I've never heard a bad word against it. Well done gg. See u at the next one. Couldn't make this one. Something came up last min.

Azrayel has your Dawn of War disc, see his review of the lan for details. As for the 4-gang, describe it in detail and I'll see if I have it. As for the downloading of files, I'm going to do my damndest to get smoothwall working with PCMCIA and Wireless cards, and any future net access shall be restricted. NO-ONE should be using the net connection to download large files. There is no need for it. Any appropriate tools, utilities, patches or applications etc. are probably already available on the lan FTP server.

A good lan by all accounts, from the interesting experiment in load balancing with Azrayal's car to s0l's gastric troubles. I wasn't particularly gagging for comps, but it seems that others were. There was a good buzz all round, and people were very friendly. Nice to meet all those interwebnet faces that mommy told you not to meet up with
