zero4 has won the quakecon championships by beating fatality in the final. you can nab the demo from xs reality. the finalists (and their cash prizes) were :

some great games played this week seeing the league into its halfway stage. a poor show from zt (*smack*), for not showing, resulted in two default wins to tsw and cd. the jams v gt game was a surprise to me, as i thought gt would have done better. i've yet to watch the demo, but i presume it was near/complete lockdown by jams.
the nd v inc game was a very exciting game, with both teams taking control of the game several times through-out the match. nd unfortunetly were plagued with a bad connect and it made the difference. be sure to check out the quakelords site for demos and scores for more details.

the rumour had been floating around for weeks, but now it has been officially confirmed by id ceo todd hollenshead at quakecon: raven software is working on quake 4, which will use the doom 3 engine and will be set in the quake 2 world of stroggos.
also at quakecon the doom 3 engine was demonstrated. trent reznor (of nin) who already made the music for quake 1 will be making the doom 3 music.

just a reminder that quakecon has actually started, a big 128 bracket quake3 duel competition in the states. the big names have already made it through the qualifiers, czm, fatality, aim, zero4, lakerman (who is actually seeded 15th) the main competition will take place tomorrow and i suggest you check cached for news and results. be interesting to see if lakerman doesn't manage a 2nd place finish but my money is on czm to win.

during the babbages event some months ago blue experienced a bug which caused him to shoot through his opponent on several occasions, this bug has resurfaced at the recent cpl london event in the unr v c58 game (q3dm7) apparantly unr|luke rocket jumps a few times without taking any damage and also sustains rockets from c58 players without taking damage either. cyberfight have the details and you can read the argument in all its glory here.

the famous id software yearly run competition will be happening this weekend in dallas (home of id). for those of you who dont know this is the event in which killcreek and thresh made a name for themselfs.
the purse for this event is as follows:
first place: $30,000
second place: $10,000

id say this is were most of these 'pro-q3player' will be making most of there cash this year ever since that cs stole there thunder

the savage q3 tdm league winners were finally announced last night.
unr held division 1. in the irish standings, bio came 3rd in division 2 and hat taking 2nd in division 3.

i just found this on stomped my guess is its q3 and team arena or q3 with even more fps killing graphics(tm) or maybe q3 with cpm (prays) =d will have to wait till quakecon is on too see if any of those are right so place your bets now!!

the first week of the quakelords quakeworld league kicked off yesterday with some excellent games. i won't go into too much detail as you can check it all out on the quakelords site.

unfortunately due to the lack of quake3 clans we can't have a proper quake3 qualifier however most of the dnc quake3 team will there, ther'll be 1v1 quake duels with members of the quake3 team, with spot prizes going to those who can win against the likes of koopa, and some fun games i'm sure, so if you can make it on sunday the details are below :

just spotted this at shackesnews:
id software has sent word that a new release of quake3 is on the way today. v1.29g
which will be made available via the auto-update system if you already installed the 1.29f
release (a lot of people did) or if you're still oldschoolin it with an older version the
ftp will open up at 5pm cst. here's a list of minor bugs that have
been fixed for the new version.
- players joining (and apparently leaving) the game cause
everyone to hitch
- fs_handleforfile: none free error
- no sound in nt 4.0 at all with 1.29f pr
- there is a shader bug in pro-q3dm6
- made /startorbit cheatprotected
- rcon issues now resolved.
- fs_basegame isn't published to clients
- fixedlegs command in the animation config is apparently not working
- + and - cvars fixed
- after last level of tier game doesn't stay on trophy screen, instead it takes you
directly to next tier screen
- developer cheats like r_showtris have been disabled in the pr (they were never disabled,
the user simply needs to run the game with "+set developer 1" minus quotes, at
the command line.
hopefully this one will work right =)

savage have announced that due to lack of sponsorship they are cancelling their lan finals for the european ctf tournament. however, they will be played online. this is a great shame for the teams involved (england, germany, denmark and belgium) and for the ctf community as a whole as there's never been a high profile ctf lan and internet finals will undoubtably effect the results due to ping diferences. (germany and england could suffer most from poorer connections).

cvg report that quake4 is being outsourced by id. here's a quote:
cvg has learnt that raven software, the developer of the ultra-violent first-person shooter soldier of fortune and star trek voyager blaster elite force, has been working on quake 4 for some time. as we reported on july 10, the development of the game was out-sourced by id software for as yet unspecified reasons, but insiders are now pointing to the fact that the legendary developer simply wanted to focus attention on the astonishingly good-looking doom 3.
not sure what to make of this one yet.

i've done a fair bit of background work getting the nice database all calculating/automating
schedules, the lot! (/me is kinda proud of that work!). if you take a look at your schedules for
the next four weeks. i've set it up so there will be two matches for each clan every sunday.
take the time to check your times and if there is changes needed, drop me mail.
with the exception of week 2, all games are being played at 3pm and 4pm. please note, that the
dates for each week are as follows :
week 1 - sunday 29th july
week 2 - sunday 12th august
week 3 - sunday 19th august
week 4 - sunday 26th august
we are skipping the weekend of the 5th of august due to the london cpl clashes with that weekend.
