as some of you may have noticed, we had the site down while i was away on holidays.
basicly, the servers which host room101 are in eircom. they are part of the original ign agreement with eircom and are hosted for free by eircom with the agreement that we run their game servers. eircom have decided to no longer host the servers and simply turned them off. gutted.
a big thanks to ronin for rehosting the site and getting us back up and running. there is a few coding changes to be made to get it to work. mainly new members and password reminders. i will get this done as soon as possible so there is little or no issues with the site. as for the database, i had to restore an older backup from just before i went on holidays :( . ronin happened to have the darkside signups in a cache so we were able to re-invite members to that lan. if you were on the original signup list and your not now, please let us know and we'll get you sorted.
as regarding other lans created and not appearing, when i get the real database back from the orig server, i will populate the changes and put up the rest of the info, alternatively, lan owners can recreate them. sorry, theres not alot else i can do.
again, thanks to paul (ronin) for getting us back.

darkside vii will be happening on october 3/4/5. it will be 36 hours of mental fun starting at 10pm friday and finishing 10am sunday.
this lan will have a capacity of 70 people. there will be a number of competitions throughout the lan, and there will be prizes on offer. the highlight of the competitions will be a 4v4 q3 ctf tournament on saturday night. as usual we will have a number of dedicated servers and a nice switched network. this time we will also be implementing our new intranet software, and competition signups and tournament ladders will be handled by this.
all the usual games will feature - and maybe a couple of unusual ones too.

monty will be on duty for the night so should be good fun.
cafe will close at 11pm to filter out public user and allow lan gamers to take their pc's.
this is the pre aircon lan, so consider it a bit of a teaser.

this will be a small lan party to gauge local interest and will only have 6 places available. places reserved first come first served but if you want to come and all the places are filled please leave your details for the next one which if there is interest, will be much bigger.
games will be cs, dod, unreal, unreal-tactical ops, bf1942 and maybe a few others.
bring your own pc, limited number of monitors available for those who need them and sorry but no rental pcs.
again, this is mainly to judge the interest in this in laois. if it is successfull and plenty of interest is received, the next one will be much, much bigger!

networking will be taken care of, just make sure your pc is working fine and setup for dhcp and we'll do the rest. everyone should have games loaded and configured properly before coming. we have a 512k broadband connection to the web but this is not to be used for downloading purposes of any kind (kazaa especially) but can be used for whatever else no problem.
