for some time now, the staff here at room101 have been working on running a large LAN for the room101 community as a whole. A good number of the LAN organisers are already aware of this and are currently helping the R101 team in getting things organised. We are aiming to run it at the end of Feburary 06. Exact dates are not solid, nor is the venue just yet.
The idea behind the room101 LANs is so all the attendees from the various other LANs can get together and have a major LAN party. This will only really work if all the gamers from the different LAN communities get themselves involved in what could be Irelands Largest Community LAN. (as opposed to an individual LAN entity).
Allready we have a large number of major sponsors interested, with some amazing prizes. Some sponsors are aiming to be the biggest sponsor of what is going to be the biggest, smoothest, most professional ran LAN this country has ever seen. The people involved have a huge experience in running LANs from the small LANs to large complex LANs. The equiptment, cabling, power, servers and LAN features that will be present at the LAN will be of the highest standard. The competitons will be ran smoothly and professionally with some excellent prizes on offer. All you lot have to do, is get yourself involved.
I cant offer much more information about this at the moment other than try and answer a few questions. As a LAN organiser, you should get yourself involved as soon as possible so we can make this go!

Come one, come all the the UL Computer Society and UL Games Society LAN, being held in the University of Limerick on the 10th of December. This will be a 50 person max. LAN with official tournaments in BF2, DOW, COD and CS:S. Sonspors include Dominos and Gamespot and prizes will be offered for competitions.

From Dublin - Approaching from the Dublin side follow the dublin road to the National Technology park and look out for the signs for UL (you cant miss them). In UL drive in the East Gate (should be the first turn in - youll know it since there wont be any flagpoles) and follow the road until you see a large carpark on your left and stone work buildings on your right. Park and follow the signs. If you come in the flagpoles entrance then 2nd exit (straight) at the first roundabout and park in the car park you find on your right. Again folllow the signs. Irelands first College intervarsity LAN Party, InterLAN, is taking place one the 26/27 of November for 24 hours and 150 places!
We highly encourage you to approach your colleges gaming or networking society to blackmail them into buying tickets in bulk and coming to this en masse. For bulk tickets contact interlan@netsoc.dit.ie

It has 1 direct bus (123) that leaves you outside the door and about 8 buses right beside it (60 seconds walk), the dart is close by and a car park for roughly 50/60 cars!
Other facilities
Also include a chipper/Chinese/pub right across the road and open till at least 1:30am! There is also a Centra left across the road which is open till 10pm and a spar which varies in closing time from 12am to 2-3am. Apache pizza and Dominos close by too!

some of you already are aware that the new room101 site is being re-written and being done up to have some very nice n cool features that will make this site rock.
for a sneak peak of what it will look like, head over to www.quake.ie, which is another site i run. i wrote the new quake.ie with the firm intentions of using the same code for r101 and adopting all the r101 functions, plus alot more. your input is appreciated and much needed. take a look anyway!
